Grass Roots Organization
Sometimes the problems and dysfunctions that need to be addressed are such that we cannot expect the party to reform itself. The party will continue to seek out and advance flawed or even corrupt candidates as a means of protecting itself and preserving its power structure – at the expense of liberty. The kind of reforms that are needed to address this must be initiated and organized outside of existing dysfunctional leadership. But it can be very difficult for true grass roots to organize themselves against this establishment. In response to this fact, we have taken steps to ensure that the platform is run BY and FOR the grass roots. To remove conflicts of interest, people with current or recent official connections to political organizations or apparatuses are not permitted to be admins (content generators / moderators) on the platform. We require admins to think and act entirely independently of their local and state party, and be guided exclusively by our values.
Where this function really begins to add value to these grass roots initiatives is its enabling of a framework in which to schedule, organize, and promote public and private meetings. A strong candidate has their work cut out for them – even when attempting to primary an entrenched establishment incumbent. That candidate needs a well-organized grass roots support system behind them. Liberty Contenders will not only provide the means by which the grass roots can organize in this way, it will also screen candidates by getting them publicly on the record with their answers to a standard set of questions, along with any that may be relevant in that race, region, or election cycle. These additional questions will written by Liberty Contenders admins. The only way that a candidate can receive an endorsement via Liberty Contenders is if they go on the record with written responses to these questions. In the event that they prevail in their race, these responses become the basis for holding them accountable to their pledges during legislative season and into the next election cycle.
Finally, the platform will provide a means of mass communication to constituents. This will help with efforts such as gathering and vetting volunteers, phone banking, and getting out out the vote on election day. These capabilities alone are enough to make the difference in the outcome of an election.
That describes the vision of the Grass Roots Organization function of the platform. And as with every function of the system, it can be filtered for visibility of survey results at the local, state, or national level.
